Golf’s most talked-about new competition is making a comeback this winter. The TGL, created by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, will launch its second season on December 28 with a highly anticipated showdown between Atlanta Drive GC and New York GC, a repeat of last year’s final.

In the inaugural season, Atlanta Drive wrote their names into the history books as the league’s first ever champions, sweeping New York 2-0 in a best-of-three series. Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas, Billy Horschel and Lucas Glover led the way in that decisive victory, while New York relied on the talents of Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler and Cameron Young.

Both Woods and McIlroy were active competitors in the opening season, representing Jupiter Links Golf Club and Boston Common Golf Club respectively. Beyond their roles as players, the two stars have been the driving force behind TGL, a project that fuses traditional golf with modern technology to create a fast-paced format designed for a new generation of fans.

The six founding teams from the first year will all be back in action when the new season begins. Atlanta, New York, Boston, Jupiter, Los Angeles Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club will once again battle it out under the lights at the purpose-built SoFi Center in Florida. A full competition schedule is set to be released later in the autumn, giving fans a clearer look at the fixtures that will shape the campaign.

Looking beyond the upcoming season, the league is already planning its growth. Motor City Golf Club, representing Detroit, will join as the seventh franchise when season three arrives in 2027, and there is every expectation that more teams will follow as the competition continues to expand its reach.
