Chelsea’s Cole Palmer faces a fresh setback after sustaining a fractured toe in a domestic accident, putting his availability for upcoming matches in doubt.

The England midfielder, who had been on the verge of returning from a groin injury suffered in September, is now expected to miss Chelsea’s fixtures against Burnley, Barcelona, and Arsenal.

Speaking on Friday, head coach Enzo Maresca described the injury as unfortunate but confirmed Palmer would be unavailable for at least the next two weeks. “He injured his toe at home. It’s not serious, but he won’t be back for this week’s matches,” Maresca said.

Regarding the length of his absence, Maresca added: “The toe is fractured. We do not yet know the full recovery timeline, but he will definitely miss the next two games.”

The injury comes at a critical point for Chelsea, who are preparing for a series of important domestic and European fixtures.
