Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil’s head coach, has hinted that star forwards Vinicius Jr. and Neymar might not make the cut for the 2026 World Cup.
In a recent conversation with Esporte Record, Ancelotti stressed the importance of fitness and consistent performance for players aiming to join his squad. He noted that only those at peak condition will be considered, highlighting the fierce competition, particularly in attacking positions.
“Selection isn’t limited to Neymar. Vinicius must also meet the 100% fitness standard,” Ancelotti explained. “If any player falls short, I will bring in someone who is fully ready. Our attacking line-up is full of quality options.”
Since assuming the role last summer, Ancelotti has not summoned Neymar for international duty, causing the forward to miss eight matches for the Selecao under his tenure.
