Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé has won the 2025 FIFA The Best Men’s Player Award, capping a stellar season that saw him dominate both domestic and continental football with the French champions.

The 28-year-old received the prestigious honour at a ceremony held in Qatar on Tuesday, December 16. Barcelona and Spain star Aitana Bonmatí was named FIFA The Best Women’s Player at the same event.

FIFA said Dembélé was selected for his decisive influence during the assessment period, highlighting his key role in Paris Saint-Germain’s historic campaign across multiple competitions.

Dembélé was instrumental in PSG’s maiden UEFA Champions League triumph, scoring eight goals and providing six assists as the club completed a landmark European season. His contributions also proved vital on the domestic front, where PSG secured a treble by winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions.

He finished the 2024/25 season as joint top scorer in Ligue 1 and was named Most Valuable Player in both the Champions League and the French top flight. His consistency and impact earned him several individual accolades, including UEFA Champions League Player of the Season, Ligue 1 Player of the Year, and inclusion in both the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season and the UNFP Ligue 1 Team of the Year.

On the international stage, Dembélé featured prominently for France, helping Les Bleus finish third in the UEFA Nations League, and was part of the squad that reached the final of the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup™, where he ended the tournament as runner-up.

The shortlist for the 2025 FIFA The Best Men’s Player Award was drawn up by a panel of experts based on performances between August 11, 2024, and August 2, 2025. Voting involved national team coaches, national team captains, football journalists and fans, each accounting for 25 per cent of the total vote.

Dembélé amassed the highest overall score across all voting categories, emerging as the standout performer of the year. He had earlier claimed the Ballon d’Or in September, underlining a season widely regarded as the most successful of his career.
