World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed the end of his long-standing coaching partnership with Juan Carlos Ferrero, bringing to a close a relationship that defined the most successful chapter of his career.

The 22-year-old Spaniard announced the split ahead of the 2026 season, describing the decision as the start of a “new adventure.” No official reason was given for the separation.

Ferrero, a former world No. 1 and 2003 French Open champion, began working with Alcaraz when he was still a teenager. Under his guidance, Alcaraz rose rapidly through the ranks, winning 24 career titles, including six Grand Slam trophies, and establishing himself as the dominant force in men’s tennis.

The duo enjoyed a particularly successful 2025 campaign, during which Alcaraz claimed eight titles, including the French Open and US Open. Their achievements earned Ferrero and fellow coach Samuel Lopez the ATP Coach of the Year award earlier this season.

In a message shared on social media, Alcaraz paid tribute to Ferrero for shaping both his career and personal growth, crediting him with turning childhood dreams into reality and guiding him to the summit of the sport.

Ferrero, in his own statement, described the split as emotional but expressed pride in what they accomplished together, adding that he wished Alcaraz success in the next phase of his journey.

With the partnership now concluded, attention will turn to Alcaraz’s next coaching appointment as he prepares to defend his position at the top of the men’s game in 2026.
