Nigeria’s Super Eagles have earned a total of $80,000 in goal bonuses for their attacking performance at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The bonus payout follows an incentive scheme announced by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which pledged to reward the team with $5,000 for every goal scored during the tournament’s group stage. Under the arrangement, the Super Eagles cashed in $40,000 after netting eight goals in their three group matches against Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda.
The team added another $40,000 to the tally after scoring four goals in their Round of 16 victory over Mozambique’s Mambas, bringing their total earnings from goal bonuses to $80,000 so far in the competition.
Nigeria are now preparing for a quarter-final showdown against the Desert Foxes of Algeria, scheduled for Saturday at the Marrakesh Stadium. The team is expected to depart Fès for Marrakesh on Thursday ahead of the high-stakes encounter.
