Manchester City have completed the signing of Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in a deal worth up to £64 million.

Semenyo has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with the Premier League champions, becoming the latest addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad as the club continues to strengthen across multiple competitions this season. The move takes City’s total transfer spending over the past 12 months to £425.9 million on 14 players.

The 26-year-old attacker, who will wear the No. 42 shirt at the Etihad Stadium, expressed confidence that his best years are still ahead of him and said City’s competitive ambitions played a key role in his decision.

“My best football is yet to come. City are still involved in four competitions and I believe I can help the team have a strong second half of the season,” Semenyo said.

Guardiola confirmed that the forward will be included in City’s matchday squad for Saturday’s FA Cup fixture against Exeter.

City reportedly fended off interest from several Premier League rivals, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham, to secure Semenyo’s signature. Director of football Hugo Viana said the player made his preference for City clear from the outset of negotiations.

The deal was agreed below Semenyo’s £65 million release clause, with City paying a guaranteed £62.5 million spread over 24 months, alongside performance-related bonuses of £1.5 million. Bournemouth also negotiated a 10 per cent sell-on clause as part of the agreement.

Semenyo joins City after an impressive spell at Bournemouth, where his performances established him as one of the league’s most sought-after attacking players.
