The Super Eagles of Nigeria have secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco following a 2–0 victory over Algeria.

The quarter-final encounter, played on Saturday, January 10, at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, saw Nigeria deliver a composed second-half performance to overcome the Desert Foxes and keep their title hopes alive.

After a tightly contested first half, Nigeria broke the deadlock through Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, who opened the scoring early in the second period. Sevilla forward Akor Adams later doubled the advantage, sealing the Super Eagles’ passage into the last four of the tournament.

The result extends Nigeria’s impressive run at the competition and reinforces their status as one of the favourites for the title.

The Super Eagles will now face host nation Morocco in one of the semi-final fixtures, with a place in the AFCON 2025 final at stake. The highly anticipated clash is expected to test Nigeria’s resolve against a Moroccan side buoyed by home support.
