Swiss forward Alisha Lehmann is set to be assigned a personal bodyguard amid heightened fan attention as Switzerland prepares for their Euro 2025 quarter-final against Spain.
Although Lehmann has seen minimal action on the pitch—just nine minutes of play so far—her enormous global popularity, particularly on social media, has made her one of the most recognized faces at the tournament. With more than 17 million Instagram followers, the 25-year-old Juventus star has drawn intense interest from fans, prompting security concerns.
According to Aftonbladet via Sportal, the Swiss Football Association has confirmed that additional security will be in place for Lehmann throughout the tournament. A spokesperson for the team, Sven Mikoz, emphasized that player safety is a top priority.
“Security at matches is handled by UEFA, but we always have our own security lead present—especially post-match when players meet fans,” Mikoz stated. “Due to Alisha’s popularity, she often receives extra protection.”
The decision follows reports of frequent requests for selfies and autographs, with Lehmann regularly attracting large crowds during public appearances.
Despite not being Switzerland’s standout performer in terms of technical skill, Lehmann remains the most widely recognized figure in the squad—both for her football and off-field personality. Her visibility has only increased since joining Juventus and speaking out publicly against online abuse.
With Switzerland aiming to secure a place in the semi-finals, Lehmann hopes to play a more prominent role on the pitch when they face Spain.
