Manchester United Ready to Offload Rasmus Højlund at Bargain Price Amid Serie A Interest

Manchester United are reportedly willing to part ways with striker Rasmus Højlund for a significantly reduced fee, as Serie A clubs circle for the Danish international’s signature this summer.

Højlund, who scored in United’s recent win over Bournemouth, has publicly voiced his intention to stay at Old Trafford and battle for his place. However, the club’s stance appears to be shifting, with reports suggesting that United will accept offers in the region of £30 million for the 21-year-old forward.

The Danish striker arrived in Manchester two years ago with high expectations following a £64 million move from Atalanta, along with an additional £8 million in potential bonuses. He made an immediate impact in his debut season, netting 16 goals across competitions. Yet, his second season proved far less fruitful, yielding just 10 goals in 52 appearances — a return that has raised questions about his long-term role in Erik ten Hag’s squad.

United’s decision to lower Højlund’s price tag comes amid a busy transfer window, with the club already investing £130 million to secure Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. The Red Devils are also actively pursuing a new first-choice striker, with Benjamin Šeško high on their list. Newcastle United are also in the race for the Slovenian forward, while Ollie Watkins is being considered as a backup option.

Interest from Italy is growing, with Serie A clubs making enquiries about Højlund’s availability. His previous success in the Italian league with Atalanta has made him an attractive option for sides looking to bolster their attacking options. A former Real Madrid coach, now associated with Inter Milan, has even touted Højlund as a perfect fit for the Nerazzurri’s style of play, fueling speculation of a potential return to Serie A.

For United, offloading Højlund would not only trim their wage bill but also help recoup funds after their aggressive summer spending. For Højlund, a move back to Italy could offer a fresh start and a chance to rediscover the form that once made him one of Europe’s most sought-after young strikers.
