Alejandro Garnacho Pushes for Chelsea Transfer, Threatens to Sit Out if Move Fails

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly made a bold demand to secure a transfer to Chelsea, warning he could refuse to play for up to a year if his wish isn’t fulfilled.

The 21-year-old, part of Manchester United’s “bomb squad,” is eager to follow Marcus Rashford out of Old Trafford, with Chelsea his preferred destination. Manager Ruben Amorim instructed Garnacho to find a new club in May after the player expressed frustration over limited game time, especially following a substitute role in the Europa League final loss to Tottenham.

Initially valued at £70 million, Manchester United has reportedly lowered Garnacho’s asking price to £50 million, opening the door for potential negotiations with Chelsea.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, talks between the two Premier League clubs are progressing, but Garnacho’s willingness to potentially sit out a full season underscores the seriousness of his desire to move.

With 144 appearances, 26 goals, and 22 assists for Manchester United, Garnacho has shown promise but now looks to reignite his career elsewhere. Chelsea sees him as a strong option on the left wing, complementing summer signing Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who recently arrived from Borussia Dortmund.

The Argentine international is determined to secure regular playing time as he prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Chelsea will begin their season against Community Shield winners Crystal Palace, while Manchester United host Arsenal at Old Trafford.
