England Docked Points and Fined for Over-Rate Breach in Lord’s Test Against India

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has penalized England for a slow over-rate during their third Test match against India at Lord’s, deducting two World Test Championship points and issuing a fine to each player.

Following a post-match review, England were found to be two overs short of the required quota after time allowances were taken into account. Under ICC regulations, teams are docked one championship point for each over not completed in the designated time and players are fined five per cent of their match fee per over missed resulting in a 10 per cent financial penalty for the England squad.

The sanction comes despite England’s dramatic victory over India in the Lord’s Test, which was widely praised for its intensity and competitive edge. However, the slow over-rate infraction has slightly marred the outcome from an administrative standpoint.

In related news, England have made a squad change ahead of the fourth Test at Emirates Old Trafford, scheduled to begin Wednesday, July 23. Spinner Liam Dawson has been recalled to the national team after an eight-year absence, replacing the injured Shoaib Bashir.
