Jordan Cox stars again as Oval Invincibles crush Southern Brave in The Hundred

Jordan Cox’s sensational form in The Hundred continued as Oval Invincibles secured a dominant seven-wicket victory over Southern Brave at the Utilita Bowl, cementing their place at the top of the table.

After choosing to field first, the Invincibles made early inroads as Jason Behrendorff dismissed James Vince and Leus du Plooy inside the powerplay. Tom Curran then struck with the wicket of Laurie Evans, leaving the Brave under pressure at just 32 runs.

But the real damage came from Rashid Khan. The Afghan spinner dismantled the Brave’s middle order with a fiery spell, removing Jason Roy in unusual fashion after a review, bowling Michael Bracewell with his very next delivery, and then trapping James Coles lbw on review. In just four balls, Rashid claimed three wickets, reducing the Brave to 44 for six.

Although Hilton Cartwright (42) and Jordan Thompson (24) added some resistance, their efforts were short-lived. The Brave were eventually bowled out for 133 with two deliveries left, with both Rashid and Sam Curran picking up three wickets each.

Chasing 134, Oval Invincibles suffered a brief wobble when Craig Overton dismissed Will Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye cheaply. But Cox, fresh from his unbeaten 86 against Welsh Fire, once again anchored the innings. He struck seven fours and two sixes on his way to 56, building a century stand with Sam Curran before being caught at cover off Tymal Mills.

Curran finished the job in style, reaching his own half-century and hitting the winning runs, while skipper Sam Billings added 13 not out. The Invincibles wrapped up the chase in 89 balls, handing the Southern Brave their third straight defeat.

With Cox firing consistently and the Invincibles’ bowlers clicking, the London side looks in imperious form as the tournament edges towards its final stages.
