The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined Egypt $5,000 for failing to fulfil mandatory media obligations following their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 group-stage match against Zimbabwe.

CAF confirmed that players and members of the Egyptian technical crew declined to engage journalists in the mixed zone after their 2–1 victory, a move the governing body described as a breach of competition regulations.

In a statement, CAF said the refusal to honour post-match media duties violated established tournament rules and undermined the competition’s media framework. The body warned that stiffer sanctions could be imposed should the offence be repeated during the tournament.

Egypt, seven-time AFCON champions, are scheduled to face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in their second Group match on Friday.
