Nigeria secured qualification for the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Tunisia on Saturday night.
The Super Eagles, who opened their campaign with a 2-1 win over Tanzania, went into the Group C clash knowing that another victory would guarantee early progression to the knockout stage. Tunisia, fresh from a commanding 3-0 win over Uganda, were also eyeing qualification.
Nigeria took control of the contest in the first half when Victor Osimhen rose highest to head his side into the lead. After the break, Wilfred Ndidi doubled the advantage before Ademola Lookman added a third to put Eric Chelle’s team firmly in charge.
Tunisia mounted a late comeback, with Montassar Talbi pulling one goal back before Ali Al-Abdi converted a penalty in the closing stages. However, Nigeria held on to seal all three points.
The result leaves the Super Eagles on six points from two matches at the top of Group C, while Tunisia remain second with three points.
