Nigeria’s Super Eagles booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a commanding 4–0 victory over Mozambique on Monday night.
The result marked a historic milestone for Nigeria, as it was the first time the team had won all of their opening four matches in an AFCON tournament. Eric Chelle’s side finished top of Group C, maintaining a perfect record and underlining their dominance in the competition.
Ademola Lookman set the tone early in the encounter, opening the scoring before turning provider for Victor Osimhen, who doubled Nigeria’s advantage before halftime. The Napoli striker struck again moments after the restart, once more benefitting from Lookman’s creativity to complete his brace.
Nigeria continued to press, and their superiority was capped when Akor Adams fired home a powerful effort from close range to complete the rout.
With the convincing win in Fez, the Super Eagles now advance to the knockout stage, where they will face the winner of the quarter-final clash between Burkina Faso and DR Congo.
