Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has opened up about his decision to join the Blues instead of Arsenal, citing the club’s ambition as the decisive factor.
The Ecuadorian international moved from Brighton to Chelsea in 2023, despite strong interest from Mikel Arteta’s Gunners. While he faced a challenging debut season at Stamford Bridge, Caicedo has since thrived under manager Enzo Maresca, establishing himself as a key figure in the squad.
Speaking to The Daily Mail, Caicedo reflected on his transfer decision. “Everything happens for a reason,” he said.
“I came close to joining Arsenal, but being at Chelsea has made me really happy. The timing was right. I waited until Chelsea made their move. People laughed and said I chose the wrong club, but sometimes you need time to adapt to a big team. That was exactly what I needed.
“I’m determined to give everything to this club because they never doubted me. I chose Chelsea because they are ambitious, and I want to win more trophies with them.”
