UEFA has imposed a three-match suspension on Bayern Munich forward Luis Díaz following his red card in the club’s Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.
In its ruling, the European football authority described Díaz’s offence as “serious rough play,” referencing his tackle on PSG defender Achraf Hakimi during first-half stoppage time at the Parc des Princes. Bayern went on to defeat the reigning champions 2–1.
Before being sent off, the Colombian forward had been pivotal for the Bundesliga side, scoring twice to give Bayern the advantage in the high-profile fixture.
The disciplinary action means Díaz will miss Wednesday’s crucial away match against Arsenal, as well as Bayern’s remaining group games at home to Sporting CP on December 9 and Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21.
Despite the loss of one of their key attackers, Bayern currently lead their Champions League group with a perfect record after four matches.
