Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has been handed a three-match suspension following his dismissal in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Premier League leaders Arsenal.
The Ecuadorian was penalised for a heavy challenge on Mikel Merino late in the game. Referee Anthony Taylor initially issued a yellow card, but the decision was overturned after VAR advised a review on the pitchside monitor. Taylor upgraded the caution to a straight red, leaving Chelsea to finish the match with ten men.
The ban will see Caicedo miss three consecutive fixtures: Wednesday’s clash against Leeds, Saturday’s encounter with Bournemouth, and Chelsea’s home game against Everton the following weekend.
The suspension comes at a crucial point in Chelsea’s campaign, placing additional pressure on manager and squad depth as the club navigates a busy fixture schedule.
