Crystal Palace midfielder Christantus Uche may be forced to remain at Selhurst Park beyond the upcoming winter transfer window as FIFA regulations restrict his ability to move elsewhere this season.
Uche, who joined Palace from Getafe in the summer of 2025, has endured a difficult debut campaign in England. Despite arriving as one of the Spanish club’s standout performers, his opportunities under manager Oliver Glasner have been limited. The 23-year-old Nigeria international has made just seven appearances across all competitions since his arrival.
Growing uncertainty around his future has drawn interest from Bundesliga clubs, sparking conversations about a possible January departure. However, according to The Athletic, FIFA’s two-club rule effectively rules out a move. The regulation allows players to be registered with up to three clubs in a single season but places a strict limit of only two teams for official match appearances.
This stipulation leaves Uche with just two realistic outcomes: return to Getafe, where he featured earlier in the season, or remain with Crystal Palace until the campaign ends.
With Uche currently on a loan deal, any mid-season switch would depend on the existence of a break clause in his contract — the only mechanism that could facilitate an early return to LaLiga.
