Nigeria’s Super Eagles will take on the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final of the African section of the 2026 World Cup playoff, with the winner advancing to the inter-confederation play-offs in March 2026 for a chance to qualify for the FIFA World Cup finals in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The Super Eagles earned their spot in the final after a convincing 4-1 semi-final win over Gabon. Goals from Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, and a brace from Victor Osimhen ensured Nigeria’s progression to the decisive stage.
DR Congo booked their place in the final following a 1-0 upset victory over Cameroon. Captain Chancel Mbemba scored a stoppage-time header, securing the win and giving his team an opportunity to compete for a World Cup slot next year.
The African playoff final is scheduled for Sunday, November 16, at the newly built Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
