Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has been ruled out of action for up to three months after undergoing a successful operation on a hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old suffered the setback while representing the Super Eagles of Nigeria during the recent international break. Following medical assessments, he went under the knife on Tuesday to correct the damage.

Aina’s absence comes as a major blow for both club and country. Forest will be without one of their most versatile full-backs, while Nigeria now anxiously waits to see if the former Chelsea academy graduate can recover in time for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Before the injury, Aina had featured three times for Forest this season, showing consistency and experience on the right side of defence. His recovery timeline, however, means his return is likely to coincide with the latter stages of the year.

For now, Forest fans and Nigerian supporters alike will be hoping for a smooth rehabilitation process as Aina begins the road back to full fitness.
