Sean Dyche Sacked by Nottingham Forest Amid Relegation Battle

Nottingham Forest have parted ways with head coach Sean Dyche after just four months in charge, the Premier League club confirmed on Thursday.

The decision follows Wednesday’s goalless draw at home to bottom-placed Wolves, a result that left Forest 17th in the table, just three points above the relegation zone with 12 matches remaining this season.

In a brief statement, the club said: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach. We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time.”

Dyche, 54, was appointed in October after succeeding Ange Postecoglou and signed a contract running until the summer of 2027. He took over with Forest third from bottom following a difficult start to the campaign that saw the team win just once in eight games.

Although his tenure began with signs of improvement, results dipped in recent weeks. Forest have managed only two wins in their last 10 league outings and were eliminated from the FA Cup by Championship side Wrexham.

Dyche’s departure continues a turbulent season at the City Ground. Postecoglou lasted only 39 days after replacing Nuno Espirito Santo, who himself was dismissed just three matches into the 2025–26 campaign. Forest are now on course to become the first Premier League club to appoint four permanent managers in a single season.

The former Burnley and Everton boss was in charge for 114 days. During that period, he also guided Forest into the Europa League play-offs, where they are scheduled to face Turkish side Fenerbahce in a two-legged tie next week.

Forest are yet to announce who will take charge of the team for the remainder of the season as they fight to preserve their top-flight status.
