Strasbourg have suspended striker Emanuel Emegha ahead of their Ligue 1 match against Toulouse, citing a failure to adhere to the club’s values and regulations. The move comes just months before the Dutch forward is set to join Chelsea in the summer.
Emegha agreed to a pre-contract deal with the Premier League side in September and is expected to sign a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge. Despite his imminent departure, Strasbourg has taken a firm stance, ruling him out of this weekend’s squad.
Managed by former Premier League defender Liam Rosenior, Strasbourg explained that the suspension was due to internal disciplinary issues. A club statement read:
“Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace has decided to suspend Emmanuel Emegha for its next Ligue 1 match on Saturday, December 6, in Toulouse. This decision follows the player’s recent failure to respect the club’s values, expectations, and rules. Emmanuel remains a valued member of our squad and will be reintegrated after this match. No further comments will be made.”
Emegha has had an impressive start to the season, scoring seven goals in 11 appearances for Strasbourg and earning his first senior caps for the Netherlands.
