Tottenham Hotspur have officially completed the signing of Nigerian forward Elisha Sowunmi from West Ham United, with the financial details of the transfer not disclosed.

The move marks a significant transition for the young attacker, who spent the last ten years at West Ham, rising steadily through the club’s academy system before making a name for himself at youth level. Sowunmi signed his first professional contract with the Hammers just six months ago, making the switch to Spurs a notable early step in his professional career.

Known for his versatility across the attacking line, Sowunmi is comfortable operating on the wings as well as in a central attacking midfield role. His performances last season stood out, as he finished as West Ham Under-18s’ leading goalscorer, recording eye-catching hat-tricks against Reading and Aston Villa. He was also instrumental in the team’s successful Under-18 Premier League Cup campaign.

Speaking after completing his move, the forward described his excitement at joining the North London club, noting his familiarity with Spurs from previous encounters at youth level.

“I’m really excited to be here. I’ve played against Tottenham many times, so I know a lot about the club. It’s a big club with a strong history, and I’m very happy to be here,” Sowunmi said.

Tottenham are expected to integrate the Nigerian youngster into their development setup as he continues his progression, with the club viewing him as a promising addition for the future.
