Victor Osimhen has been hailed as the most valuable player in Turkey’s Super Lig by Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek, following reports that the Nigerian striker could now command a €150m transfer fee.
The 26-year-old forward joined Galatasaray permanently last summer from Napoli for €75m after an impressive loan spell, setting a record as the most expensive transfer in Turkish football history. Just months into his stay, Osimhen is already attracting attention from European heavyweights including Chelsea, PSG, Manchester United, and Barcelona ahead of the January transfer window.
Osimhen has continued to shine on the pitch, scoring nine goals in 12 appearances across all competitions this season. His standout performance came in the UEFA Champions League, where he netted a hat-trick against Ajax, reinforcing his reputation as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards.
Speaking at an awards ceremony in Istanbul, Özbek confirmed Osimhen’s high value. “Osimhen is among the most valuable footballers in Türkiye,” he said. “I don’t want to comment on exact figures, but it is clear to all Turkish football fans that he is the league’s standout player.”
Italian clubs are currently not in the running for Osimhen due to an agreement between Napoli and Galatasaray that prevents a move back to Italy before 2027. The arrangement also ensures that Napoli will receive 10% of any future transfer fee.
The discussion around Osimhen’s potential move to Europe’s elite clubs has intensified, with former Premier League striker Troy Deeney questioning why the prolific forward is still playing in Turkey. “Victor Osimhen is one player we can never really understand. Why is he in Turkey? Why isn’t he at one of the big clubs? There’s no doubt he’s a goalscorer, but for some reason, some teams don’t see it,” Deeney said.
With his current form and growing interest from top European sides, Osimhen’s profile is expected to rise further, making him one of the most watched and valuable players in the continent’s football scene.
