Ryan Gerard secured his maiden PGA Tour victory at the 2025 Barracuda Championship, outlasting South African contender Erik van Rooyen in a dramatic finish in Truckee, California. The 24-year-old American accumulated a total of 47 points using the Modified Stableford scoring system, a unique format that rewards aggressive play — and Gerard capitalized brilliantly.

While Gerard celebrated a career-defining moment, England’s Todd Clements produced one of the standout performances of the day, finishing third after a breathtaking final round that saw him rack up 16 points — the second-highest round of the tournament. He closed with a 39-point total, marking his best finish of the PGA Tour season so far.

Clements got off to a blazing start, carding birdie-eagle on the 2nd and 3rd holes, and matched that momentum on the back nine with another birdie-eagle burst at holes 10 and 11. A closing birdie on the 17th sealed his late charge up the leaderboard.

“I gave it everything out there today,” Clements said following his round. “The format allows you to attack, and I tried to make the most of those scoring opportunities. I’m proud of how I finished.”

Gerard, who held off van Rooyen by just three points, described his victory as a surreal achievement. “This is what you dream about,” he said. “To finally win on the PGA Tour, especially in a format that rewards aggressive golf, is really special.”

Erik van Rooyen finished in second with 44 points, continuing a consistent run of form, while Beau Hossler, Jacques Kruyswijk, and Max McGreevy shared fourth place, rounding out a competitive leaderboard.

The Barracuda Championship, held at Tahoe Mountain Club’s Old Greenwood Course, is the only PGA Tour event to use the Modified Stableford system, awarding +8 points for albatrosses, +5 for eagles, +2 for birdies, and penalizing bogeys (-1) and double bogeys (-3). The system encourages high-risk, high-reward play — and delivered plenty of fireworks throughout the week.
