Russian MMA fighter Timur Kizriev is recovering in the hospital after surviving a targeted shooting outside his home in Dagestan, prompting a criminal investigation by regional authorities.
The 27-year-old, who remains unbeaten in his professional career with an 18-0 record and competes under the Professional Fighters League (PFL), was ambushed by two armed assailants early Wednesday morning as he approached his car. The attack, captured on a nearby security camera, shows the suspects firing multiple rounds at Kizriev at close range.
Despite being hit, the fighter reacted swiftly, wrestling one of the gunmen to the ground in a dramatic physical confrontation. The second suspect fled the scene. Emergency responders transported Kizriev to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition, according to medical personnel.
Local law enforcement has opened a criminal case and is working to establish the identities of the suspects and uncover any possible motive. Officials have yet to make any arrests, but confirmed that all angles, including premeditation, are being investigated.
